Beginner's Guide to Group Fitness Classes

4 min read

New to group workouts? Etiquette, booking tips and how to pick the right class. Everything you need to start strong.

Group fitness is one of the easiest ways to start exercising regularly. You get a qualified instructor, a structured plan and a room full of motivation, so there's no need to figure it out alone. Here's how to get started.

1. Pick a class that matches your goal

  • Want cardio, music and fun? Try Zumba.
  • Want a stronger lower body and a bit more structure? Try Zumba Step Cardio.
  • Looking for something else? More classes are coming soon. Follow our page for updates.

2. Book ahead

Slots are limited, so booking online is the best way to guarantee your place. No registration is needed and walk-ins are welcome when there's space, but popular evening classes can fill up. You pay per class (₱150), so you only pay for the classes you join. Coming often? A monthly membership brings it down to as low as ₱125 per class.

3. Know the etiquette

  • Arrive about 15 minutes early to check in.
  • Put your phone on silent.
  • Leave a little space around you so everyone can move safely.
  • Wipe down any shared equipment after use.
  • Tell the instructor about any injuries or health conditions before class.

4. Listen to your body

Instructors usually show an easier and a harder option for each move. Start with the easier version and build up. If something hurts (sharp pain, not just effort), stop and let the instructor know. Take water breaks whenever you need them.

5. Be patient with progress

Your first few classes are about learning the format and the moves. By class three or four, things start to feel familiar, and that's when the fun really kicks in. Aim for two or three sessions a week for steady improvement.
